About me

My name is Eman Aleksic. I was born in Melbourne, Australia and spent a few of my teenage years living abroad in Lebanon. I now live in Melbourne with my husband Bobby (the fisherman) and our boat (Caprius II). My husband and I share similar food tastes although we come from different backgrounds. I am Lebanese and he is Serbian.

I studied Science at University and now I work as a Research Scientist specialising in HIV and tuberculosis. I do love what I do but I am also passionate about food and re-writing recipes to suit my tastes. I love to learn new things in the kitchen and absolutely love buying kitchen gadgets.

One of my goals in life is to expand my food repertoire and be inspired by the people I meet and places I've been. Other inspirations come from other blogs, cooking websites, restaurants, cooking shows and books. Cooking classes for me have been a great place to learn how to cook food from outside my comfort zone.

As you can guess, seafood features heavily in my recipes as we have a our own boat and we spend a lot of time fishing. I am passionate about sustainable foods, organic produce and 'trying' to be healthy - which I think is common among many people I know. Although I try to reduce the amount of oil/butter I use in dishes, its important to add the fat where it is needed so keep this in mind! So hopefully this blog shares my enthusiasm for food with you all. From savoury to sweet foods, meat to vegetarian dishes, there will be something for everyone.

So join us, maybe you might try a new thing or two...
